Since a young age I always wanted to become Chef, as I loved to cook and was very skillful in the art of cooking. I believe I have a God given gift – a keen sense of taste and smell, which is required to be successful in this art.  Moreover having lived in different parts of India I learnt a lot of  traditional and local Indian cuisines, from my life journey.

However, since I was good in studies, like many others in India, I also had to choose to pursue a career in Information Technology (IT), to support my family. But the Chef in me, did not allow me to stay away from my passion and I always used to prepare lavish meals for my family and friends as I love not only to cook but also to feed and bring smiles to people.

To master the art further I also took a course from the Sanjeev Kapoor academy in India. I am also a certified Ayurveda nutritionist, which helps me in preparing food which is not only tasty but also healthy, based upon Ayurveda principles. During Covid I did my bit by regularly serving home cooked food to make-shift hospitals and old aged homes.

To new beginnings

After 19 years in the IT field and having climbed the corporate ladder as a certified Project Manager and certified Risk manager and having worked in companies like IBM (in the CIO office) and Zalando, I finally decided to fulfill my lifetime dream after moving to Berlin. I want my life journey to be an inspiration to all women and men who would love to pursue their dreams.

Having tried numerous Indian restaurants in Berlin, I saw a strong need to bring authentic Indian food to Berlin, hence finally on 8th March 2024 on International Women’s day I opened the doors of my first restaurant Bollywood Tadka near the Deutsche Oper, Charlottenberg. As a tribute to maestro Richard Wagner and being fond of Bollywood music myself I have also themed my restaurant with after Bollywood, probably the first one in Berlin. Shah Rukh Khan has been my inspiration as I have learnt some key lessons from his struggles and life’s journey. He often says that one cannot achieve success without hard work and truly believing that you are the best at what you do.

Integrity – my key to success

Integrity is more important for me than money and hence serving high quality and authentic food is of paramount importance for me. Traditionally Indian cuisines have always been made with fresh vegetables and freshly grounded spices, this is what makes Indian food tasty and flavourful. Moreover being an Ayurveda nutritionist I understand the health benefits of freshly cooked food, using fresh ingredients and hence avoid using any canned foods with harmful preservatives. We also don’t use any artificial food colors or flavoring.

We serve a large variety of Vegetarian and Non Vegetarian dishes, but we also serve Indian Street food (Chaats) because I want Berlin to experience the real taste of India, as India is known for its Street food vendors – selling different local food on the streets of Indian cities. I have selected some of the most popular Street foods from different parts of India, bringing a unique culinary experience to Berlin.

Chef Special days

Since we serve only freshly cooked food, we cannot serve all the dishes that I would love Berlin to savor and hence select days of the  month will be celebrated as Chef special days, where we will serve unique cuisines from different parts of India, which will not be in our regular menu.
